Research Insights Overview

Two basic mobile phone configurations were tested and compared in this IMS research study to simulate typical in-market usage:

• The mobile phone as a standalone device, in different mounting configurations
• The mobile phone wirelessly connected with the IMS Wedge in different mounting configurations

The native sensitivity of the mobile phone to g-forces was tested and results compared to dedicated hardware in the form of the IMS Wedge and a reference accelerometer. IMS measured the ability of these devices to respond to crashes, simulations of real-world impacts, at several different g-force levels.
